Teaching Philosophy I believe that students must make the meaning of whatever curriculum they are engaged with come alive in personal ways. I believe students arrive at and construct meaning based upon all the experiences they have had in the past. Therefore, it is my job to create cognitive space for them to grow in by presenting knowledge and insight into key areas of thought pertaining to the subject. Ideally assignments will challenge students to push their individual abilities while remaining true to the standards and benchmarks for the grade level. I believe that all assessments should encourage students to be reflective about the work they have done, whether through student generated rubrics or simply journaling after the completion of assignments. Above all students should feel comfortable and cared for in my classroom both personally and academically.
